ENVIRONMENT at Edinburgh Napier

Our work aims to support sustainability of the natural environment as well as the built environment with research into transport, sustainable materials, biodiversity, smart cities, carbon neutrality and design including interaction design, product design, ergonomics and human computer interfaces (HCI). Our applied research ranges across engineering, surveying and design, including novel innovative material and wood technology. You’ll find our graduates working in most of the top civil engineering firms. We also seek to transform young lives and help solve the skills shortages across the construction industry. This ‘hands-on’ approach to teaching and research produces real world results. Our quick case studies show you how.

construction material we aim to help increase its use and reduce the carbon footprint of the built environment. We are also working with the timber
industry to avoid wastage and improve resilience
to commercial pressures.

Building-up Young Talent

The construction stars of the future are being moulded by our industry-leading expertise. In order to modernise the workforce of the future we have partnered with Daydream Believers, a new online resource bank for educators that is pioneering a new SCQF accredited qualification in Creative Thinking.
